The correct installation of drilling mud vacuum degasser should be at the suction tank. It is the first tank downstream of the sand trap, or when there is no sand trap, it is the first sand trap. The sand trap should be constantly stirred to help the drilling fluid tumble and separate as much gas as possible from the drilling fluid.

The treated drilling fluid then flows into the next circulating tank. There should be a welded pipe or overflow port that can withstand high flow rate between the two pools. The discharge tank of the degassing device is also the suction tank of the centrifugal pump. The centrifugal pump here is used to pump the drilling fluid from the ejector of the degassing device. At this time, the drilling fluid is usually called dynamic drilling fluid.

Pumping the drilling fluid from the ejector is actually sending the drilling fluid from the suction pool of the degassing device to the unloading pipeline. Design and equipment installation due to Bernoulli effect, a low-pressure area is formed at the ejector, so that the discharge from the ejector returns to the same container. It is used as the suction of power well fluid. The drilling fluid is sucked into the vacuum degasser, and then passes through the degassing container. The reason is that the centrifugal pump cannot pump out the drilling fluid containing gas. Therefore, the drilling fluid cannot be pumped out of this container, but can only be inhaled.

Below are some basic principles of drilling fluid treatment decanter centrifuge operation:
1. Do not start the centrifuge without belt shield;
2. To ensure trouble free operation, first rotate the centrifuge bowl by hand before power the centrifuge;
3. If there is abnormal noise or vibration, do not continue to use. Stop the machine soon for trouble shooting.
4. Before feeding drilling fluid into centrifuge, make sure the centrifuge reach the specified speed.
5. Do not overfeed the centrifuge to avoid overload.

Construction Mud Solids Liquid Separation Equipment for Australia

A set of Construction Mud Solids Liquid Separation Equipment are ready for shipment. The construction slurry separation system are designed per client’s request to meet their applications.

Below are the major separation and processing equipment included in the treatment system:

1.Linear motion dewatering shale shaker. The shaker model is GNLMZ1236. It is a big size shale shaker for coarse separation.

GN dewatering vibrating screen-linear motion is widely used in beneficiation, coal preparation, building materials, metallurgy, chemical industry and other industries. In the beneficiation industry, it is commonly used for desliming, dewatering, demineralization and dry discharge of tailings of iron ore, nonferrous metal ore, coal mine and other materials.

2.Double deck shale shaker. The model is GNZS706. The shaker model can be linear motion or dual motion. The double deck shale shaker has 3 screen panels at bottom deck and 3 screen panels at upper deck. It is used after dewatering shale shaker to remove the fine particles. The double deck shale shaker is widely used for non-oil mud separation.

3.Mud cleaner separator, the under flow shaker model is GNZJ703. It is single deck shale shaker which use the same size screens as double deck shale shaker GNZS706.

4.Big bowl decanter centrifuge. The model is GNLW553. The GNLW553 (High Volume-Big Bowl) centrifuge is supplied with a 22 inch diameter bowl which has a length over diameter ratio of 3.3:1 for effective removal of low gravity solids from the active drilling fluid system.The centrifuge is widely used for various types slurry dewatering treatment.

5.Chemical dosing dewatering unit. It is used together with decanter centrifuge for ultra fine solids separation.

The dewatering unit which is composed of high speed decanter centrifuge and chemical dosing unit are fixed inside a modified container. In this case, it is easy for movement and layout at jobsite. And the design is more compact for less footprint.

2-phase and 3-phase decanter centrifuge for drilling mud treatment

GN Solids Control makes 2-phase and 3-phase decanter centrifuge with fixed speed control, FHD control or VFD control.

The VFD panel of GN Solids Control VFD decanter centrifuge is equipped with vortex self-cooling system. GN Solids Control will ask clients what is the max. ambient temperature in summer at their job site? For high temperature areas, GN Solids Control will make high standard VFD panel with A/C cooling system for for self-cooling.

As 3-phase centrifuge can only allow slurry with max. 10% solids content and particle size less than 2mm, 2-phase decanter centrifuge is must to be used before -phase separation to reduce the mud weight and solids percentage. After 2-phase centrifuge separation, the oil, water and soil mixture slurry flow into 3-phase decanter centrifuge to get oil, water and soil.

In order to remove as more ultra fine solids as possible, chemical dosing unit will be used together with decanter centrifuges for dewantering flocculation treatment. GN Solids Control can offer the 3-tank antomatic chemical dosing unit. It is used for powder chemicals. If clients will use liquid chemical, GN Solids Control have other options to fit for neither powder chemicals or liquid chemicals, or both.

As most clients may know, the pre-separation equipment for OBM cuttings and oil sludge is different. For pure OBM cuttings from shale shaker and mud cleaner, Vertical cuttings dryer is better. It can reduce the oil on the cuttings to 3% ~ 5%. It can remove more usable liquid. And the solids discharge is very dry.

But vertical cuttings dryer cannot be used to treat the soil sludge discharged from centrifuge. As its screen basket opening is 0.5mm, 0.35mm and min. 0.25mm. The soil cake from centrifuge is very fine and will all pass the screen opening.

Oil sludge is normally the mixture from different application, like drilling mud, drilling cuttings, soil cake from centrifuge separation, tank bottom slurry, slope oil, refinery waste oil slurry, industry waste oil, etc… The solids size and solids content is more complex. In this case, high G drying shaker is used for pre-seperation. And as the oil slurry is more complex, sometime, need to dilute and heating the sludge before separation. The solids waste discharge from High G drying shaker is with higher oil on the cuttings after separation. For example, before treatment the sludge with 15~20% oil content. After high G drying shaker, maybe around 10~15%, or even higher if the sludge with high viscosity and density.

 

2-phase and 3-phase decanter centrifuge for drilling waste management

GN Solids Control offers 2-phase separation and 3-phase separation on OBM and oil sludge treatment solution. Vertical cuttings dryer, high G drying shaker, 2 phase decanter centrifuge, 3 phase decanter centrifuge, 3 phase disc centrifuge are the major separation equipment used for the process. Job site operators can choose the suitable separation device to suit for the material situation and clients’ separation demands.

Chemical dosing unit is a necessary device to use together with the separation device. GN Solids Control has various sizes and various type of chemical dosing unit for liquid chemicals and powder chemicals.

For recover the usable drilling mud from OBM cuttings and WBM cuttings, major separation equipment is vertical cuttings dryer, high G drying shale shaker, and decanter centrifuge. 1500GPM Drilling Mud Cleaner for Drilling Company in China

GN Solids Control is now working on the packing of a 1500GPM drilling mud cleaner for a drilling company in China. The drilling mud cleaner model is GNZJ594F-3S16N. It is a combo type 3-in-1 mud cleaner, which is composed of a single deck 4-panel shale shaker, number 3 desander cones, and number 16 desilter cones. The desander cone size is 10 inch, cut point of the 10 inch desander cone is 47 microns. The desilter cone size is 4 inch, cut point of the 4 inch desilter cone is 27 microns.

The 3-in-1 mud cleaner is for 2 steps solids control separation. Shale shakers are used before the mud cleaner. For 1500GPM mud cleaner, qty 3 shale shakers are recommended before the mud cleaner. After the dirty drilling mud pre-separated by the first stage solids control shale shaker, the recovered drilling mud will be transferred to desander separator and than fed to desilter separator for the 2 steps separation.

According to the vibration type, the shale shakers can be divided into 4 types:

1. Ordinary elliptical motion shale shaker: during operation, the screen box moves in a circular track and makes a pitching motion around the center of mass.

2. Circular motion shale shaker: the screen box moves in a circular track during operation.

3. Linear motion shale shaker: the screen box moves in a straight track during operation.

4. Translational elliptical vibrating screen: during working, the screen box moves in a translational elliptical track.

Gearbox reducer for oil field Screw conveyor

Screw conveyor is a popular transfer device used at oil and gas drilling site. It can collect drill cuttings from solids control equipment, like shale shaker, mud cleaner, or desander, desilter, and it can used to transfer drill cuttings to cuttings dryers, vertical cuttings dryer, cuttings box, cuttings pits, etc…

GN Solids Control makes 5 sizes auger diameter: 10 inch, 12 inch, 14 inch, 16 inch and 18 inch. GN Solids Control makes 12ft per section as standard length. Clients can choose the auger diameter and section quantity per their needs. GN Solids Control makes various sizes screw conveyor, the transfer length is from 12ft to 48ft.

The driving unit of screw conveyor is composed of helical bevel gearbox reducer, explosion proof motor, driven section, middle section, and feed section. The gearbox reducer and motor is combined by the flange.

The Augurs are sometimes inclined at an angle, particularly the Secondary Augur. Normally, the first screw conveyor is laid at shale shaker and mud cleaner in horizontal. And then there are other augers next to the horizontal auger to transfer drill cuttings to requested position. Some clients said they faced the problem that, the oil may come from gearbox reducer to motor. Clients want isolation plate between gearboxes and Electric Motors for screw conveyors electric Motors to prevent Lubricating Oil from going into the Electric Motors.

GN Solids Control provide good quality oil seal between gearbox reducer and motor to prevent oil to enter into the motor. The screw conveyor impellers are made of wear-resistant and thicker manganese steel. According to the clients’ special requirements, the screw conveyor impellers can also be sprayed with wear-resistant coating to extent the service life of the screw conveyors.

Mud tanks for oil and gas drilling mud solids control system

Mud tank is a basic device for drilling mud solids control system. Drilling mud tank looks sample. It seems easy for fabrication. The difficulties lie in design and pipelines to allocate all equipment. It is difficult to design the mud tanks to suit for clients demands on requested separation equipment and mixing system.

As every jobsite has different request for mud tank size, the number of mud tanks, mud tank usable capacity, the layout of mud tanks, and most clients have different request on separation equipment and mixing equipment, they request different models and numbers of shale shaker, desander, desilter, decanter centrifuge, jet mud mixer, pumps, etc… In this case, nearly every mud system is different. It is a big work to make the mud tank system designs and drawings, and need to change the designs and drawings again and again during the communication with clients. It is a huge work to make full package mud tank systems. It has high request on the manufacturers’ capability.

Shale shaker is a basic separation equipment. There are various types of shale shakers, like 3-panel shale shaker, 4-panel shale shaker, single deck shale shaker, double deck shale shaker, etc… Shale shaker is nearly used for all separation system. And it is the 1st stage solids control separation equipment in mud systems.

There is normally a sand trap under the shale shaker. The drilling fluid enters the drilling fluid mud tank system after passing through the shale shaker screen. The sand trap plays a very important role in the daily use of 80 mesh screen cloth or coarser screen cloth.

The bottom of the sand trap should be inclined by 45 ° to promote the sedimentation of large sand particles and rapid discharge outside the tank. The bottom inclined by 45 ° or more has a self-cleaning effect. The sand trap shall not be stirred, but shall enter the lower tank through overflow. Both linear and balanced elliptical motion drilling fluid shale shakers have this technology. Fine cobalt chips generally do not have enough residence time to precipitate. When cheap drilling fluid is used, the grit pump shall pump 1 ~ 2 times every 1H. At present, ultra-fine mesh screen cloth is widely used. Due to the expensive waste treatment cost and environmental concerns, such discharge is not allowed and the cost is limited.

Oil field decanter centrifuge for drilling mud treatment

Centrifugal separation is the process of separating heterogeneous mixtures such as liquid – solid, liquid – liquid – solid and liquid – liquid by centrifugal force. The process is divided into three types: centrifugal filtration, centrifugal sedimentation and centrifugal separation. The corresponding centrifuges are also divided into three categories: filtration centrifuges, sedimentation centrifuges and centrifugal separators.

Decanter centrifuge is widely used in oil field to treat drilling mud, drilling cuttings, and oil sludge and waste water generated from the drilling activities.

The rotating assembly:
The rotating assembly consists of a cylindrical stainless steel bowl, conveyor assembly, and related components. The bowl has openings at both ends: A conical head at the solid discharge end and a flat liquid bowl head at the opposite end. The bowl ends are supported by greased ball bearings.

The bowl assembly:
The bowl assembly consists of a cylindrical bowl closed on one end by the liquid bowl head and at the other by the solid bowl head.

Screw Propeller or the conveyor assembly:
The conveyor assembly is a hollow, cylindrical auger that receives the inlet slurry into its interior, disperses it through nozzles to the bowl assembly, and transports the solids to the solid discharge
outlet.
