Solid bowl decanter type centrifuges often will dewater materials which are too fine for effective dewatering by filtering centrifuges.

In decanter-type units, extraction of liquid takes place in the cylindrical part of the bowl. Dewatering of solids by compression of the cake takes place in the conical part of the bowl. Bowl geometry must be adapted to achieve optimum results for the desired application.

The solid bowl decanter centrifuge consists of two horizontal concentric rotating elements contained in a stationary casing. The outer rotating bowl element is tapered so that the solids discharge from a smaller radius than the liquor. The inner element is a hollow hub screw conveyor with blade tips shaped to fit closely to the contour of the bowl. Feed slurry is introduced into the conveyor hub. The feed accelerates to the machine speed the slurry is delivered by centrifugal force into the rotating bowl by way of ports in the conveyor hub. The solids settle through the liquor pool formed on the wall of the bowl. The solids are then conveyed, due to a slight differential between the screw and bowl, up the drying beach to the solids discharge ports. The clarified liquors are discharge in the opposite direction from adjustable overflow ports.

Operation

A. All safety protection guards shall be installed before starting up. It is forbidden to open the guards of decanter centrifuge to observe the running state of the machines.

B. During the operation of the decanter centrifuge, touch to moving parts and rotation parts should be avoided.

C. It is forbidden to brake in any way before the decanter centrifuge is stopped.

D. If there is abnormal noise and vibration, close down decanter centrifuge immediately and make troubleshooting.

E. It is forbidden to have the decanter centrifuge running at the rotating speed out of active speed that indicated in the instruction and nameplate.

△Only after power is cut off can electrical devices be wired or plugged/unplugged!

Maintenance

A. Only after power is cut off and bowl stops completely running can the decanter centrifuge be dismantled and adjusted.

B. When opening the cover of collecting box, it should be opened sufficiently and be fixed to prevent the sudden closure of the cover and injure the operators.

GN Shearing Pump

GN Shearing pump saves the cost of mixing polymers and clays while improving mud properties. Shearing the polymers eliminates fish eyes and prevents polymer chaining (long strings), which cannot pass through the shaker screens. The Shear pump is available as a belt-driven or diesel-driven package including a mud hopper, mud gun, and transfer line orifice plate. A complete system with skid, tanks, and piping are also available.

There are many principles of proper pump installation and application as well as special considerations for the pump design which, if followed, will further enhance the performance of your GNJQB turbine shear pump.

The pump should be located the liquid source so that the suction line can be short and reduce loses. The foundation should be sufficiently rigid and substantial to adsorb any vibration and support the base plate at all points. The base plate should be installed in a level
position.

The capacity of a centrifugal pump should never be adjusted by throttling the suction line, but a positive shutoff valve of a type to cause minimal turbulence should be installed in the suction line to permit the closing of the line for removal of the pump for inspection and maintenance.

Use finest shale shaker screens possible
Unless specific drilling fluid requirements dictate otherwise, always use the finest screens possible without incurring mud carryover and with the shaker being configured in optimum set-up condition i.e. angle, pool depth etc.

Replace Damaged Shaker Screens
Never allow torn screens to be used. As holes appear change and repair out at the first opportunity.

Proper Cleaning of the Shaker
Never clean shaker screens with brushes or sticks. The poor transportation requiring the use of brushes should be addressed at source. Always use appropriate cleaning solution. Never use water with an oil or synthetic based mud.

How to choose right agitator size for tank?

For proper mixing and suspension of solids, the mud agitator must be properly sized and installed.

To properly size a mud agitator, proceed as follows:
1. Select desired style – horizontal with welded or casting impeller
2. Determine available electric power – 440V/460V/380,60HZ , 380V/400V/415V,50HZ or customized.
3. Select horsepower and impeller(s) as determined by the following factors:
a. Tank design – round or square
b. Tank dimensions
c. Maximum mud weight
d. Desired turnover ratio (TOR)

Following are operational recommendations for mud agitators:
1. Maintain uniform tank dimensions, i.e. equal width-to-length ratio or as close as possible to equal.
2. Avoid TOR values greater than 85 seconds, as this may jeopardize solids suspension.
3. Avoid TOR values less than 40 seconds, as this may result in formation of a vortex and increase air entrapment.

Pitless Technology Solids Control System

Solids control system is very popular used in the oil and gas drilling, HDD and CBM drilling. For oil and gas drilling, in the past, the driller would dig a large pit on the groud to reserve the used drilling fluids. After the drilling cutting sedimented to the bottom of the mud pit, the upper lever drilling fluids would be reused. To some extent, this method could save some drilling fluids, but the enviromental harmful mud pit brought problems for the driller.

Vacuum shaker screen recovery system

Vacuum shaker screen can fit all types of shakers. It sucks the drilling mud out of the cuttings as it passes over the last screen on the shaker.

Vacuum shaker screen recovery system is attaching a vacuum manifold under the shaker screen or installing a vacuum manifold that has a shaker screen attached to it. The system is attached to the shaker’s vibrating basket so the manifold vibrates with the shaker as it is running.
