Some companies are only capacity to make centrifuges for various industries, they cannot make solids control separation equipment, like shale shaker, mud cleaner, degasser, etc…While some companies are only make pumps, they cannot make separation equipment. And there are some companies only make mud tanks, they are not capacity to make solids control separation equipment by themselves.

Recently 2 sets of drilling waste management equipment are ready for shipment. They are customized for an Africa project. The drilling waste management equipment will be used to treat oil base mud and oil base drilling cuttings which generated from oil and gas drilling field. All equipment inside the waste management system are customized with client appointed color.

The 2 sets of drilling waste management equipment including following items:
1) Vertical cuttings dryer. Quantity: 2 sets. Model: GNCD930.
Vertical cuttings dryer is also called as vertical centrifuge. It is the major processing equipment to treat oil base mud and oil base cuttings. Vertical cuttings dryer can separate oil on the cuttings to 3% ~ 5%. Before vertical cuttings dryer treatment, the oil on the cuttings is around 10% ~ 20%. It means the vertical cuttings can recover more usable drilling mud with oil, which is valuable. More recovered oil means save more cost for clients. And further more, more recovered fluids means less wastes generated from the process. It can also save the cost of hazardous material shipment.

2) High speed decanter centrifuge. Quantity: 2 sets. Model: GNLW363C-VFD
GNLW363C-VFD is a 14inch high speed decanter centrifuge. It is the most popular size decanter centrifuge used for drilling mud solids control system and drilling waste management system. The typical speed of GNLW363 is 3200RPM. In some projects, clients want high speed decanter centrifuge over 3200RPM, GN Solids Control can also offer. The max. Typical speed of GNLW363 can up to 3600RPM. GN Solids Control can offer fixed speed control for 14inch decanter centrifuge for easy operation. GN Solids Control can also offer VFD control and FHD control for the 14 inch decanter centrifuge.

3) Screw conveyor. 4 sets. Each vertical cuttings dryer will use 2 screw conveyors. One screw conveyor is used to feed cuttings to vertical cuttings dryer. Another screw conveyor is used to transfer the discharged solids from vertical cuttings dryer.

Oil sludge treatment, oil base mud and drill cuttings treatment is the major product made by GN Solids Control. Some clients do not know the difference of Oil sludge treatment system and oil base cuttings treatment system. They want to know the difference and know how to choose the right separation equipment.

Normally for OBM cuttings treatment, clients will separate cuttings and recover usable drilling fluids, and sell the drilling fluids. It is 2-phase separation. While for oil sludge treatment, clients will separate oil, water and solids. They do 3-phase separation.

Below are some general information to let clients know more about the different and about the equipment choosing.

1) As 3-phase centrifuge can only allow slurry with max. 10% solids content and particle size less than 2mm, 2-phase decanter centrifuge is must to be used before 3-phase separation to reduce the mud weight and solids percentage. After 2-phase centrifuge separation, the oil, water and soil mixture slurry flow into 3-phase decanter centrifuge to get oil, water and soil.

2) In order to remove as more ultra fine solids as possible, chemical dosing unit will be used together with decanter centrifuges for dewantering flocculation treatment. We quote you the 3-tank antomatic chemical dosing unit. It is used for powder chemicals. If you will use liquid chemical, pls tell me to revise the quotation.

3) Per our communication on Whatsapp. The pre-separation equipment for OBM cuttings and oil sludge is different. For pure OBM cuttings from shale shaker and mud cleaner, Vertical cuttings dryer is better. It can reduce the oil on the cuttings to 3% ~ 5%. It can remove more usable liquid. And the solids discharge is very dry.

But vertical cuttings dryer cannot be used to treat the soil sludge discharged from centrifuge. As its screen basket opening is 0.5mm, 0.35mm and min. 0.25mm. The soil cake from centrifuge is very fine and will all pass the screen opening.

4) Oil sludge is normally the mixture from different application, like drilling mud, drilling cuttings, soil cake from centrifuge separation, tank bottom slurry, slope oil, refinery waste oil slurry, industry waste oil, etc… The solids size and solids content is more complex. In this case, high G drying shaker is used for pre-seperation. And as the oil slurry is more complex, sometime, need to dilute and heating the sludge before separation. The solids waste discharge from High G drying shaker is with higher oil on the cuttings after separation. For example, before treatment the sludge with 15~20% oil content. After high G drying shaker, maybe around 10~15%, or even higher if the sludge with high viscosity and density.

GN Solids Control has an oil sludge treatment system which is used at Qinghai Oilfield in China. The system is used since May 2018 till now. It is a customized oil sludge waste reduction system. Clients are happy with its performance.

Many clients are showed great interest on the system, below is some information of the system to let people know more.

1.The system is used since May 2018 till now, the location is Qinghai Oilfield in China.

2.The liquid content of the raw material oil sludge is 70% – 80%.

3.There is a pre-mixing and heating modular in the oil sludge separation system. Oil sludge will be heated up to 60C degree, during the heating process, chemicals will be enhanced into the process procedure to help for separation. The chemical enhancing is based on the material situation. If the material is easy for separation, heating and chemical dosing may be not needed. It depends on the separation result.

4.There is a double deck drying shale shaker in the customized system for pre-separation. After shale shaker, there is a desander separator.

5.After desander mud cleaner, it is decanter centrifuge separation by an 18inch big bowl centrifuge. There are 2 sets GNLW453C-VFD centrifuge for ultra fine solids separation.

6.There are 2 types of sludge vacuum pump for sludge and slurry transfer in the system: GNSP20B and GNSP40B.

7.The system for the client is 2-phase separation. After separation, clients get clean oil slurry with small percentage ultra fine soil. The oil slurry recovered from GN oil sludge system will be further treated by slurry separation system to get oil and water. The final solid waste is taken to third party the biodegradation and pyrolysis company for processing.

GN Solids Control can also offer 3 phase separation after the 2 phase centrifuge sepration to get clean oil, water and solids.

Big bowl decanter centrifuge is a major separation equipment for oil sludge treatment. GN Solids Control makes 2-phase decanter centrifuge for liquid and solids separation, and 3-phase decanter centrifuge for water, oil and solids separation. The centrifuge bowl sizes are vary from mini size 9 inch to big bowl 22 inch size and the largest big bowl 30 inch.

Last week, some sets of GNLW554ET- VFD decanter centrifuge were shipped to an clients doing oil sludge treatment. GN Solids Control makes T Series Decanter Centrifuge mainly for dewatering treatment and for thickness.

GN T series decanter centrifuge for dewatering / Thickening is with beach angle of 8.5 degree. It is widely used for maximum dewatering requirements of municipal and industrial waste water sludge. The most popular bowl size used for oil sludge separation is 9 inch, 14 inch and 22 inch decanter centrifuge. GN Solids Control makes high quality composite frame pretension screen. The screen internal is supported with metal frame for reinforce. The screen external are covered by special material plastic which contains fiber glass for durable at high temperature. The external plastic is made from hot press by hot press machine. Compared with traditional metal frame, it is more environment friendly during manufacturing. And the quality is much more stable and under control. It is good question. When people talk about plastic, it may mean pollution. But this plastic which GN Solids Control use to make screens is PP (polypropylene). It is (C3H6)n only have C and H to produce CO2 and H2O if burning. This PP (polypropylene) plastic is relatively less environmental impact. And In many countries like in China, there are some companies who can do the recycling of the composite frames made by PP (polypropylene) and metal.

The normal capacity of GN Solids Control Oil Sludge treatment machine is 1 m3/h, 5 m/3 and 15m3/h. Although the normally has shale shaker separator in the system, the handling capacity is defined by decanter centrifuge not shale shaker. As decanter centrifuge has the min. treating capacity in the system.

GN Solids Control made a small liquid and solids separation system. The small system is customized for an Europe company per clients request. The client asked for a small recycling unit with cleaning capacity of about 12-15 m³ / hour. The client wants a small single centrifuge in the small recycling system.

GN Solids Control customized a compact system which is composed of a small size shale shaker and a mini size decanter centrifuge. The shale shaker and decanter centrifuge are located on a mud tank together with a centrifuge feeding pump and electric control cabinet for the whole system. Tank size for the whole system is 3900Lx2250Wx1300H (mm) for easy movement. It is a small capacity recycling system with turn-key solution. All connections inside the system are included.

The Shale shaker separator model is GNZS752F-MDZF. It is a 2-panel small size shale shaker with small footprint.

1. Shaker screen. To ensure accurate cut point, clients must to choose replacement shaker screens which are confirmed to API RP13C. In order choose the right model replacement shaker screen, firstly clients need to confirmed the shaker model, once shaker model confirmed, screen size is known. And then based on the requested separation point to choose right API size. For different brand replacement shaker screen, the same API size screens are interchangeable.

2. High speed Decanter Centrifuge or low speed decanter centrifuge Package complete with feed pump, connection hoses and control panels.
GNLW363C fixed speed centrifuge is recommended as high speed and low speed operation. It is the most popular size 14 inch decanter centrifuge. Operators can change pulley and belt to get another fixed speed.
Fixed speed centrifuge is easy for operation and maintenance, and its cost is much lower than VFD centrifuge or FHD centrifuge.

3. Screw conveyor Auger transfer for drilling cuttings
GN Solids Control makes screw conveyor with auger diameter vary from 10″ 12’’ 14’’, 16’’ and 18’’. The auger body is equipped with grab wire for emergency stop.
Suggest clients to choose a size auger to min. spare parts stock.
GN augers are combined by standard length 12ft per section. 14” dia. with 36ft transfer length is recommended. You can remove the middle section to use it as 24ft, or add another middle section to use as 48ft.

4. Sludge transfer pump
GN Solids control have various types transfer pump. Clients should tell GN Solids Solids Control their request for model selection, like what is the material for transfer, mud, cuttings, solids, or others? What is the transfer capacity want to reach? What is the transfer length? GN Solids Control has submersible slurry pump, and vacuum pump for solids and sludge transfer, it is driven by air. Users should offer air supplier. It can be supplied by air compressor, or supply air from the rig site. GN Solids Control also makes centrifugal pump.
