Normally, the HDD or trenchless drilling projects mud solids control system is 3 phase solids removal. But for heavy mud, the 4 phase solids control system gives a lot of benefits to the drilling contractors include more clean mud, less disposal cost, and faster drilling speed.

This four phase solids control system include shale shaker, desander, desilter, and decanter centrifuge.

1) Desander Desilter mud tank
The first mud tank is equipped with one desander shaker unit and one desilter shaker unit. The dirty drilling mud will go to the bottom deck of the shale shaker for desander unit and desilter unit for first stage mud treatment.

And then go to desander unit for second stage mud treatment. After the desander unit, the centrifugal pump will feed mud to the desilter unit for the third phase separation. Two 55kw centrifugal pump is also equipped with the mud system for feeding the desander cones and desilter cones.Both the desander and desilter unit are double deck shaker with down shaker for primary solids control, and top shaker for drying the drilling cuttings from the hydrocyclone cones.

2) Centrifuge mud tank
The second mud tank is equipped with two sets middle speed decanter centrifuge GNLW452C, to remove solids particles about 5-7microns. The centrifuge bowl speed is variable with ABB frequency converter. The user can adjust the bowl speed from 0 to 1800rpm to fit for the mud conditions
For some closed loop mud system, GN Solids Control not only provide the four phase solids control system but also will provide the dewatering unit for zero discharge solutions.
